OK Boomer, listen up. Generational conflict is back. Boomers have stolen Millennials’ future. They’ve used up scarce resources while voting for austerity. For their part, Millennials are self-absorbed avocado-scoffers who rather complain than work and save.
This is the growing narrative of generationalism – the belief that all members of a given generation possess characteristics specific to that generation. Our turbulent times at the end of the ‘end of history’ are generating new cleavages and conflicts, and the generation war is one of the most prominent across the West.
